STAFF

Our highly skilled and compassionate staff has completed the Fear Free initiative training program. Our entire Team has been educated on how to prepare your pet for a visit. Once here, the staff will gently handle and interact with your pet to alleviate any anxiety or stress your pet may be feeling.

Dr. Steven Zeide

A Stamford resident and owner of Bull’s Head Pet Hospital since 1975, his primary veterinary interests are in internal and preventive medicine, ophthalmology and pain management.  Although he graduated from the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in prehistoric times, majoring in dinosaurs, he continually updates his education, attending countless lectures and seminars.

Whether it’s participating in pet-facilitated therapy at human hospitals and nursing homes or visiting schoolchildren on career days, he loves to share his passion for animals with Fairfield County‘s young and young at heart. It’s doubly rewarding when the students come to Bull’s Head Pet Hospital to discover more. The learning tree has even branched out to his two sons from a more than 40-year marriage. One, a colleague, Dr. Nolan Zeide, and the other, an attorney with his MBA, who frequently consults for the practice.

Born and bred in Brooklyn, N.Y., “Dr. Steve” learned to be fiercely loyal to family, community, and work. When not working, he is usually working out. His highest life priority is his wife Dorothy, his one and only childhood sweetheart. What would a veterinarian be without pets of his own? Dog Sedona, a mixed breed rescue,  Zoa, a beautiful long-haired cat, also a rescue, and BKLYN, a miniature Bull Terrier, presently rule the roost.

Dr. Nolan Zeide

Nolan Zeide, sometimes referred to as “Dr. Nolan,” was born and raised in Stamford, Connecticut. As a product of its school system, he is a graduate of Westhill High School. As the son of Dr. Steven Zeide, he has been surrounded by animals and veterinary medicine his entire life. As a matter of fact, as a child his favorite after-school activity was cleaning cages and helping the kennel staff.

His curiosity for science and general inquisitiveness ultimately led him to earn a degree in Veterinary Medicine from Purdue University in 2009 and was presented the American Animal Hospital Association’s award of “Distinction in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery.” Upon graduation, he advanced his training for another year as a rotating Intern in Medicine and Surgery at the Animal Medical Center in Manhattan. His current interests in veterinary medicine include internal medicine, nutrition, behavioral issues and soft-tissue surgery.

Although he has had the opportunity to have lived and traveled extensively inside and outside the United States, he is pleased to once again reside in Stamford, with his wife, Leah, a Greenwich elementary school teacher, their daughters, Aviva, Elora and Iyla, a rescue Catahoula Leopard Dog, Vader, and his newest family member, an American Pitbull Terrier, named “Denver.” Si`, he is fluent in Spanish.

Dr.  Alan Shanker

Dr. Alan Shanker has been a veterinarian for over 40 years. His expertise and caring ways has had dedicated clients bringing their family’s pets to him for generations.

Dr. Shanker, and his wife Pam, now live in Stamford, so he still finds time to fill in at our office and we couldn’t be happier! When he is not here, they love to spend time with their beautiful, grown up daughters; Elisha, Deena, and Rebecca, and their wonderful grandchildren!

Dr. Jessica Greenberg

Dr. Jessica Greenberg, BVMS, MRCVS, grew up in upstate New York and went to Massachusetts for college where she majored in Biology and Classical Studies. She then attended the University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine where she loved every slightly rainy Scottish minute. Jessica graduated with distinction and is a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Jessica returned to the United States in 2010 and has been practicing in the New York and Connecticut area since. She loves helping pets and their families, with special interests in pain management, internal medicine, fear free medicine, the human animal bond, and hospice care. She lives in Stamford with her husband, Adam, and their children Shifra, Gila, and Matan, and their 2 cats Arthur Pendragon and Bramley.

David Daniels, CVT and Hospital Administrator

David was born and raised in Stamford, CT, but has lived and worked in both Europe and Asia. His family remains in town, as does his baby brother, Dusty, a 6 year old rescued Bichon Frise. David and his family have been close friends of the Zeides for decades.

Having started with BHPH, back in high school, as an intern, he graduated from UCONN Storrs and then spent 25+ years in Human Resources (HRCI-SPHR, SHRM-SCP), working with mostly 2-legged mammals, in a variety of organizations, but missed his 4-legged roots, as well as his home here at BHPH. After leaving NYC, David attended Norwalk Community College to obtain his CVT and started working again at BHPH in a variety of different roles, from Doctor Assistant to Veterinary Nurse. Today, he wears multiple hats, and knows the inner workings of the office intimately. As the Hospital Administrator, he is committed to bringing the highest level of service to all of Bull’s Head’s patients, clients, and staff and continually works hard to create a professional, yet friendly, work environment.
